Annual scholarship program in its 9th year expands to include new scholarship
DALLAS, July 19, 2010 — SWACHA today announced the recipients of its 2010 scholarships. This year, in addition to the NACHA Payments Institute scholarships, SWACHA has included the NACHA Institute of International Payments Scholarship. SWACHA’s annual scholarship program rewards banking professionals for their dedication and involvement both in their financial institution and within the SWACHA membership. SWACHA is on of the largest not-for-profit regional electronic payments associations in the country.
The NACHA Payments Institute is a weeklong education opportunity for financial professionals to broaden their knowledge base of all payments systems, while networking with the “best and brightest” in the industry.
The 2010 NACHA Payments Institute Scholarship winners are:
• Julie Flores, AAP with Generations Communications FCU of San Antonio. Julie is the recipient of the Keith Daniels Memorial Scholarship which provides tuition, room and board ($2,495.00 value) as well as a travel allowance up to $500.00.
• Angela Miller, AAP with HCSB of Plainview, and Irma C. Branum, AAP with Amarillo Community FCU of Amarillo are the recipients of general scholarships covering tuition, room and board.
The NACHA Institute of International Payments is two days of intense instruction for payments professionals looking for a more advanced understanding of global payments and the business opportunities available.
The 2010 NACHA Institute of International Payments Scholarship winner is:
• Fred D. Gibbons, AAP with Broadway Bank in San Antonio. Fred is the recipient of the Institute of International Payments scholarship, a $2,595.00 value which will cover the registration fee for the Institute.
“We are pleased to be able to offer the Keith Daniels and general scholarships for the ninth consecutive year, and to add the Institute of International Payments scholarship to our 2010 scholarship offers,” said Dennis Simmons, president and CEO of SWACHA. “This year’s recipients are very deserving of these scholarships as they have demonstrated strong commitments to the payments industry. We hope that by attending the 2010 NACHA Payments Institute and the NACHA Institute of International Payments they will gain crucial knowledge to help them further succeed.”
A Blue Ribbon selection panel made up of distinguished SWACHA members chose this year’s scholarship winners, based on several criteria including their level of experience in payment systems and their involvement in the industry.
