ProPay Launches ProtectPay Online Virtual Terminal

-ProtectPay Online Virtual Terminal Provides Merchants with a Secure Payment Option and Reduction of PCI Obligations-

Lehi, Utah – July 28, 2010 – ProPay (www.propay.com), ETA’s 2010 ISO of the Year and the industry leader in End-to-End Payment Security, credit card processing, and electronic payment services, announced today that is has launched ProtectPay Online Virtual Terminal (OVT). The new feature allows merchants to securely store their customers’ payment information in the ProtectPay Vault through the Online Virtual Terminal. The introduction of the ProtectPay OVT extends the data security and compliance benefits of ProPay’s secure payment solutions to small and medium-sized businesses, including the sole proprietor or home business.

“It is a common misperception that data thieves only target large, well known organizations,” said Dr. Heather Mark, Ph.D, ProPay’s Senior Vice President of Market Strategies. “In fact, smaller companies, because of their perceived lack of resources and technical sophistication, are often targeted by cyber criminals. Many industry studies have suggested that over 80 percent of identified compromises of cardholder data (credit, debit card data) involve small merchants. While larger companies often make headlines, dozens of smaller companies are victimized for every large or well-known company that suffers a data compromise.”

ProtectPay Online Virtual Terminal enables merchants to reduce or remove PCI compliance obligations and risks associated with data compromise by storing their customers’ card data securely with ProPay. The sensitive cardholder data never resides in the merchants’ systems and is sent directly to the ProtectPay Vault, where the data is securely stored. The merchant receives a unique identifier that can be used for reporting purposes or repeat transactions. The cardholder data resides in a secure storage facility at ProPay.

The features and benefits of ProtectPay include:
•         Secure Storage of Customer Payment Information – The ability to securely store customer payment information in ProPay’s Industry compliant data storage solution from the Online Virtual Terminal.
•         Repeat Billing – ProtectPay allows the payment information to be stored securely while allowing merchants to easily and conveniently use the data for repeat billing and ongoing business transactions.
•         Customer Satisfaction – Customers feel more confident in their merchant when they know their payment information is securely stored in a safe environment.

Current ProPay customers can login to their ProPay Account to sign up for the service. New ProPay customers can visit www.propay.com and through our simple and instant underwriting process sign up for both a ProPay account, and ProtectPay Online Virtual Terminal.
